This "vegetative neurodystonia" that your naturopath diagnosed you with is just a made up term used by only a handful of docs to describe all these varied symptoms that happens to someone after a period of stress. It's just a useless term with no treatment outline or cure. In my six years of research on stress, adrenal fatigue is the most controversial but proper term for your symptoms. Your adrenal glands produce steroids (cortisol) that allow you to adapt to stress. They also control your metabolism and well-being. Once these steroids become depleted due to long lasting/ and or severe stress you get the symptoms you describe above. These steroids are also needed for the thyroid hormones to be able to reach your cells. A typical symptom of both low thyroid and cortisol is an all over aching of the body's muscles and joints. It will almost feel as if the bones are in pain. But don't think that anyone will diagnose you with these conditions because they don't show up on blood tests. You would need to see a select few very, very smart doctors that take into account their patients symptoms and history. P.s. I've been there and had the same symptoms after severe stress and I now take the adrenal steroid (hydrocortisone) and my muscles and joints are back to normal. It's only a small physiological dose which has no negative effects whats so ever.On this dose it is not possible to suffer from any of the side effects from larger doses of steroids. And it just supplements your own adrenal's effort to keep you well and healthy. Doctors are so scared of what they don't know! Good luck

I had a spinal fusion and it is healed. My facet joints have shifted due to arthritis. I have arthritis from T6 to L5 S1. I am also obese 264lbs. I also have tachycardia. The doctors can't keep my heart rate and blood pressure under control. I take 3 different heart medications, Fentanyl..which is 80 times more potent than morphine for pain, xanax and hydrocodone for breakthrough medication. I also take gabapetin and xanaflex..muscle relaxer. My current mri shows the fusion has healed but my back hurts everyday. Probably the fusion and arthritis causing the pain. My doctor wrote a letter stating I am unemployable for a minimum of 2 years if not permanently and my heart isn't at a functional level. I have been denied twice for ssi and that happened before my surgery. I now have a lawyer but she is worried because the new mri shows that the fusion has healed. I have depression as well because of the pain and my son has Autism. I know you can't predict the future but my hearing is on the 19th and I want to know what others think, will I get my SSI?

How do I conduct multiple regression with categorical and continuous IVs in SPSS?

I am just running preliminary yses and want to get a general sense of what the data look like. It would be nice to know if there are interactions among the IVs as well. I ran a linear multiple regression with all the relevant IVs thrown in, but then I realized that some are categorical and thus the results are likely not interpretable. Any suggestions for an easy way to do this? Do I need to look to ANOVA instead? I don't want to mess with syntax right now. Thanks!!!

Temperature Potato Osmosis Experiment?

We did an osmosis experiment with a potato at varying temperatures. At the lowest temperature there was no gain, at the middle temperature there was a steady gain, but at the highest temperature there was no gain. I know that with an increase in temperature we should get an increase in the rate of osmosis. At the highest temperature the potato was cooking so I'm wondering if this caused a change in the potato that affected our results. Thanks for your help!

It would be good if you could take a break from your laptop for a couple of days and get out and get some fresh air and exercise. If the problem is the result of prolonged use of computer screens and stress and worry then this will help. It sounds vaguely like the aftermath of migraine but it is not going to be possible to determine exactly what is wrong with you when a neurologist with access to you and the MRI scans cannot. When you say you feel you can't see clearly - is there a specific thing e,g print far away that you actually cannot see or is it just the feeling that your vision isn't right? If you can't find anythign that you cannot see then its more likely to be adjusting to the vision you get with spectacles or stress.

Cloudy tank?

i have a 30 gl cube tk with two shubkin goldfish one is 2.5 inch long and the other is 5inches long. it is a well established tank (2 years) and every thing was great untill recently. i am now haveing problems keeping the tank clear. 2 months ago i added an additional filter and per advise started doing 10 percent water changes every other day this was to go on till the tank cleared. after a month of this i got frustrated and did a 50 % change and completely sterlized the older filter. for a month the tank stayed clear. its NOW back to being Cloudy agian. i have two filters on the tank. one a Whisper with Bio sponge rated for a 30-60 gallon tank and the other is an Enhim (?) rated for a 50 gallon tank with 2 bio sponges and other media. i have done a 20 percent water change, changed the filter media in the whisper filter and carbon in both and no change its still cloudy, the water test with no ammonia,or nitrites. are my fish to big for that tank? what can i do to keep the water clear

i have ped my mucas plug over the last 4 days and i have been having contractions for three days...i saw the doctor yesterday and she wants me to wait untill my contractions are closer together before i go to the hospital...i am at 40 weeks and in a lot of pain...my contractions are all over the place from 5 minutes apart to an hour apart....but i am very uncomfortable...not to mention i have been diagnosed with bells palsy 2 days ago....just what i needed!!! please tell me things i can do to speed this process along...i know its gotta be close but i cant take much more

I was parked in a loose gravel area and when I pulled away it took a moment for my tires to grab. Immediately after my airbag light started blinking and remains lit. I had the choice to buy anything and price really wasn't a factor--I chose the Savage over Remington, Tikka, CZ, Sako, Ruger...... You might like something better and in the final ysis you should buy what you really want to buy. Belkin Router won't allow two computer to connect?

My friend just bought a router last night after finding a hub wouldn't work to split an internet connection. It's a Belkin Wireless G Router (Model number: F5D7230-4). The easy install didn't like the modem we're using. We use Comcast cable and a Scientific-Atlanta, Inc. modem that Comcast sent. I accessed the router through it's IP address and changed the MAC address. I was able to get the computer I got the MAC address from (with ipconfig /all) to connect to the net afterward, but when I hooked another system to the router the internet light went off and stopped the internet feed completely. I tried just pulling the second computer's cable to see if the internet would work again, but it didn't. I also went and added the MAC address I got from the second system to a list of filters to allow both systems to work with the router (after connecting the second computer itself to the cable modem). I also enabled DHCP. Thanks in advance for you answers.

Ok there are these people that live down the street from me and they have had several dogs in the past four years and all of them have gotten pregnant and the pups have died and then the mother died. well just this past year one of the dogs had pups and then died because of the heat. there were about 5 pups and one day all of the sudden they were all gone, so my grandpa went down and asked one of the kids what they did with them and they said they took them and shot them. well it was but about 1 month later that another dog was there and this time it was a female pup. and it sit down there chained up in the very back part of their yard yelping wanting attention, food and water. they never played with it, fed and watered it maybe once every other day. well my grandpa started to go down there every morning and night to feed and water it and let it play with our dog. that went on for about 5-6 months. in the summer they sit out in their yard and watched him do that everyday. even the next door neighbor talked to my grandpa and said he would feed and water it in the morning if grandpa would do it at night and they agreed to that. then about 3 moths ago he went down there and there was a pole in the yard that the dog was tied to and she would get wrapped around and couldnt get in the dog house or get to food or water. that day they had some family over and the kids played with the dog and they tied the dog to the fence that seperates their yard from the neighbors yard (its actually the neighbors fence). well he went down there that night to feed and water the dog and decided that he would cut that pole down so that the dog couldnt get wrapped around it no more. o and there were several times that we called the dog catcher to come and check it out trying to get them caught but they would talk about it over the scanner and the people would hear it and go feed the dog real quick so the dog catcher said she couldnt do nothing about it. the next day the guy came up the roand hollering and cussing my grandpa and grandpa went towards the guy telling him to get back down the road or he was gonna hit him and the guy turned around and yelled stay the f**k off his property. the guy went and called the police and they came over and grandpa requested to talk to the cheif of police and that cop said no so he started to yell and cuss at the cop saying he will pay the charges but the need to do something about the dog. the neighbor came over to my grandpas defense and still the cop refused to do anything about the dog. all she cared about was the charges pressed against my grandpa. she left and we got two tickets in the mail. one was for tresping and one for destruction of property. the ticket said the charges were from the town not the people. and also the dog is now old enough to get pregnant and he told them and offered to pay for it to get fixed but they said no. all of this seems like a bunch of crap and they need to have that dog taken from them. what do you think of all this?

Your grinder is the wrong type for espresso as it cannot grind fine enough. It is fine for drip however, also for spices ( not both unless you like your coffee tasting of pepper). You need a burr grinder. To make sure this is indeed your problem, buy a small amount of fresh roasted coffee from a coffee shop (not a supermarket) and have it ground by them for espresso machine (they will know what setting)

How do I stop my dog going crazy when he sees another dog?

I have a 10month old German Shepherd. He goes to puppy cles every week, he sees other dogs on a daily basis both on regular walks and on trips to the park etc. We also have friends who have dogs which he sees on a regular basis but still every time he sees another dog he either automatically begins pulling towards them, thrashing around to get to them or he lies down on the ground until they come close enough for him to pounce. Even if in another dogs company for a long period of time he won't calm down for ages, he follows the dog around constantly. We have tried everything we can think of to stop this behaviour e.g. treats, walking in the other direction, leave command etc but nothing seems to work. Any thoughts/ideas would be much appreciated. No movement at almost 20 weeks?

I am almost 20 weeks pregnant with my second child, and I have felt no movement at all, at least not that I have noticed. I had an ultrasound on Tuesday, and she is just fine. I even have a doppler, and can hear her kick all time, but I can't feel it. I felt my first move around 17 weeks, and I'm not overweight, so that isn't the case. When should I be feeling her? The morning starts out with my husband being in alot of pain & feeling rough like he always does and make a point of telling me each and every morning.We had our little niece over for the weekend and being 3 she is hyper,active.&talks,talks,talks.So i kept her in my room by me all night watching movies,playing barbies & whatnot.This morning he wakes up feeling rough saying that the 100 vicodins his dr gave him on friday were not helping.So i get my little niece ready & i take her home.Then later this afternoon our car breaks down & he is just hurting to bad too go look at it.So i text my sister on her phone if i could drive her daughter to work so i could use her car to go grocery shopping,she texts back sure so i went & did my shopping.(She was at the bar with all her bar buddy's watching the packer game)I come walking in from shopping & her son,my husband,my 2 boys (22&21) all jump all over me saying that my sister is mad as hell at me for using her car and she wants me to bring it to the bar that shes at & walk home!So i get on my phone & text her a pretty mean message about her saying it was ok for mr to use her car.Her and her kids got into a huge argument for over a week and wouldn't talk to each other.I didn't take sides & i just talked to each of them as i normally do.I was especially nice & helpful towards my sister as she is a pretty big woman about 400+lbs.She had her stomach stapled in 1997,& i had mine done in 1996,my weight goes up & down from 150 to 170.This past spring i came clean to her about me being addicted to pills,pain pills,klonopins for the past 18yrs years.Because of it we lost just about everything,our nice 4 bedroom home,our kids to foster care when they were younger but i did get them back and through it all me & my husband stayed together.He is an electrician and he only took the pain meds not the benzos & he has been able to keep his job.Me on the other hand has lost so many jobs i cant even remember anymore.But i have been clean since march of this year & i just cant get a job & i feel like i've burned my bridges you know?My sister has a nice high paying job at our casino(we are native americans)She is a shift manager there & she is a big drinker,at the bar every night telling all her buddys about her druggie no good sister.My 22 yr old son lives with her & she has turned him against me as well.I feel like none of my kids have any respect for me because of my past drug use.Right now i feel like going out and getting a case of beer,i haven't drank since last jan,i knew i never had a problem with alcohol or weed,coke,crack,meth but boy put two pills in front of me!Sometimes i wish i would have just overdosed,even though im Clean i don't see my life getting better.My husband makes good money at his job when he has pills to go.Our bills are piling up,we owe back rent,then this thing with my sister just hurts me the most!I love her more then anything i would do anything for her.I clean her house,do her laundry,clean her room,anything she asks of me i do.Then when i try to bring up how she treats me she throws my drug problem in my face & tells me all the things that are wrong with me.Then my husband,watch come tomorrow morning he won't go to work cuz he feels to rough.Well there are alot of mornings i feel rough too,but i don't have the option of taking some good vicodins to make me feel better.I just don't know what to do anymore.Sorry for this being so long but i just felt i needed to get it out.Thanks to all you who took the time to read this.Hopefully my life will get better.

HELP, fish keep dying in tropical tank?

Help my poor fish keep dying.I have a 200lt tropical tank set up with the required heating and filtration system.It houses 6 zebra dandeos, 2 barbs, 4 guppies& 2 gouramies. I use aquarium salt and do a third water change every two weeks using water conditioner every time.However my fish keep dying at what is an alarming rate.(At least one a week) They have a healthy varied diet of flakes an live food.I have noticed a day before they die there scales develop this dull sheen and they quieten right down. I just called my dr to explain some symptoms i have been having with what i think to be a cold and they just told me i could take all sorts of cold medicine even nyquil. Dude, you should play the deck a few times to see how it "goldfishes" (ie how fast can you deal 20 to an opponent who is doing nothing). Just by doing that 10-20 times you can start to get an idea of what cards don't work and what ones do. And you will also figure out which cards need to go up in number (ie go from 1 copy to 4, etc). Try to focus your deck more by eliminating the one of's- this will make it much more consistent and easier to win with.

First you want to eliminate all wheat from her diet. Wheat products just make allergies worse... even in humans. There are many high quality foods that you can switch her too. Try to find one with oatmeal (non-allergenic) over rice. but brown rice is acceptable too. All avoid products with corn and corn products (i.e. corn starch). You want to keep her diet as simple as possible. Start putting her on vitamin c. Ester-c is best. I highly recommend Dr. Goodpet's Ester-C. I use it on my dogs as well. START LOW. Very low and work your way up to no more than 1000mg a day depending on her weight. It should take several WEEKS to work up to 1000 mgs. Too much vitamin C will give her diarrhea. Also, get her onto a good fish oil pill or some high quality salmon oil. Look in your area for a good holistic vet. There are a lot of ways to control allergies without drugs. Good luck.

What should i do....?

ok so i go back to the Dr for a followup on my knee on tuesday. This will be eactly 3 months post injury, and for the most part my knee finally feels "normal" i mean the pain is minimal(unless i stress the knee) and the swelling has all but gone away(unless i am on it for a bit of time). So the other day while i'm doing my ROM exercises i go just to the point of discomfort (130 degrees) and i hold it there for afew seconds and then i try and pull it just a little further, well when i do i get a pain along my joint line where the injury is(MCL) but the pain seems to be deeper in the joint and is like a stabbing sensation. Then when i go to straighten my leg out the pain continues until i get to about 85-90 degrees and my knee seems to "catch" and then after that point the pain becomes more to syrface of the joint and a bit more intense. Also, i have been noticing creaking and clicking in my right knee(not injured). Should i mention these things to my doc and what could they mean?
