How do I conduct multiple regression with categorical and continuous IVs in SPSS?

I am just running preliminary yses and want to get a general sense of what the data look like. It would be nice to know if there are interactions among the IVs as well. I ran a linear multiple regression with all the relevant IVs thrown in, but then I realized that some are categorical and thus the results are likely not interpretable. Any suggestions for an easy way to do this? Do I need to look to ANOVA instead? I don't want to mess with syntax right now. Thanks!!!
