Is there a good movie editor software besides Windows Movie Maker?

WMM hates me, and lags, and I cant UPDATE it because Microsoft just hates my guts, so is there any FREE! read it, F R E E movie making software that wont virus up my computer or lag HORRIBLY or crash or make me pay or etc? Thanks in advance!
