Apprehensive about a relationship... Please give me your opinion?

I think you have the right idea! I'm seventeen, too, and my first relationship was and is with someone that was my best friend. I loved him before we went out, and it has been a great relationship. If you have doubts about him and don't know him very well, wait for something more special. Don't just take him because he's an option. Wait for someone that you're crazy about. Besides, if he speaks a different language, your conversations wouldn't be very good and good conversations lead to good relationships.
